Since they began in 2016, Pico have worked with Girish and his team at Mila factory, a small living-wage factory in Southern India. At the end of 2021, Mila moved into their new purpose built, solar-powered factory in a rural area outside Tirupur.
PLANET
Pico aim to have as small an environmental impact as possible, they work with localised supply chains and look to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible.
They use only Oeko-tex 100 and GOTS certified dyes. The waste dye water from the dye process goes to a local waste-dye unit where it is collected in large pools- which act as solar panels- to power the purification process. The dye water is then filtered and purified so that approximately 95% becomes drinking water and the remaining 5% is compacted down into a cement- like material used for building/ repairing local roads.

We aim to use solely recycled and/or recyclable packaging. We avoid using plastic throughout the supply chain. This year we are introducing new swing tags made from recycled cotton paper (which is made with scraps of cotton from the production of Pico products), created in collaboration with the wonderful cooperative Craft Boat.
