PEOPLE
Nona Wear creates clothes with integrity, honouring the handcrafts of their weavers, natural dyers and sewers. The fair trade cotton is hand woven on a paddle loom by artisans in Gujarat, India and garments are made slowly and consciously. As well as being the Founder, Gabriel is also an Ayurvedic postpartum care specialist, tending to mother’s and babies after birth. Nona Wear is designed to be loved and worn at any stage of life and also support pregnancy and the postpartum time, therefore it's important to Gabriel that Nona Wear is free from chemicals. Our skin is the largest organ of the body and it easily absorbs the healing properties of the plants we dye our clothing in, or indeed the toxic chemicals that often replace them. Unlike artificial, chemical based colourants Nona Wear only uses natural dyes that are non-allergic. These such dyes have antimicrobial properties, therefore absorption into the body can be beneficial instead of harmful. Choosing this way to wear clothing feels really important for Nona Wear to offer- especially to women with babies and young children.
Nona Wear is very select about where and how the fabric is sourced and garments are made, using trusted partners in India that believe deeply in their ethics, supporting and preserving the unique crafts and culture of India, while creating social and environmental benefits for the people and the planet through female empowerment, training and employing women from marginal communities, health and happiness of employees, very minimal environmental impact and no fabric waste.

PLANET
All cloth that Nona Wear choose for their garments is also chosen for it's chemical free process. The cotton they use is 100% natural and biodegradable as well as fair trade and (almost) carbon neutral. Dedicated to only using natural dyes in the clothing they offer, because not only does it feel an environmental responsibility but chemically responsible.Natural dyes are both eco-friendly and non-toxic, and water released from the dye can be returned to the soil without harm. Two natural dyes Nona Wear use consistently are indigo and madder. The indigo creates depths of unrivalled blue that changes and evolves over time, adapting to wear and fading in colour but forever beautiful. Madder is loved for creating a wide spectrum of stunning hues from earthy browns through to vibrant pinks and is one of the larger used colours for natural dyeing.

ANIMALS
Nona Wear makes products that are free of animal materials.
All dyes are natural and chemical free, which not only reduces exposure to pesticides for the farmers and the land they farm but also supports biodiversity and wildlife, and protects animal welfare.
