PEOPLE
Heiko want all workers involved in the production of their clothing to have rights to safe, dignified, properly paid employment. Their clothing is currently made in Bangladesh and they wanted the greatest assurance that workers are not being exploited and are being fairly paid. This is why they work with the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). Their clothing is sourced from a firm who has consistently met all the FWF requirements and has been attributed 'Leader' status. (the highest possible ranking FWF offers) for consistently showing best ethical practises and demonstrating that it is committed to driving positive change in the textile industry.
To be granted FWF certification, associated brands must abide by strict regulations, from monitoring and remediation to transparency. FWF are an independent, non-profit organisation who collaborate with a number of brands to ensure workers’ rights are protected and labour conditions are improved. They also work to ensure that workers are given the means to acquire new skills and to receive proper education and training. The foundation conducts a strict yearly brand performance check and extensive audit to report and evaluate on the activities of member companies. All of their designs are printed onto 100% GOTS certified organic cotton T-shirts meaning that it meets the requirements of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), including safe working conditions, no discrimination and absolutely no child labour.
