An important part of Ration.L's story is that founder Kavita Basi's was taken into A & E hospital in 2015, aged 38, with a life-threatening subarachnoid haemorrhage. After her road to recovery, it was important for her to help others who have endured a similar experience, and in 2018 she published a book 'Room 23 surviving a Brain Heamorrhage'. She also began to work closely with charities who help those affected by neurological conditions. Due to her life changing experience, she decided she wanted to live better, & alongside helping others it was also important for her to help our planet. Having always been interested in sustainability, she decided to create two brands (Reflexone & Ration.L) each with a different purpose but with the same goals- key sustainable products with longevity, designed with intent and to encourage a healthier, happier lifestyle.

Ration.L works with suppliers that are members of the Business Social Compliance Initiative, and suppliers provide them with their ethical and social initiatives. They source materials and operate in manufacturing facilities who can demonstrate fair and humane practices. To ensure safe and secure working conditions are upheld, they conduct audits through 3rd party organisations and ensure their supply chain partners are signed up to best practise social & environmental initiatives. Reflexone are continuously learning and expanding their tool guide program to ensure that no products or raw materials originate from conflict regions. They consider forced labour a zero-tolerance violation of human rights and prohibit forced labour or human rights abuses of any kind within their supply chain.
